Penge gas spill: People cleared from homes



Many individuals were emptied from homes in south London taking after what police depicted as a "tremendous" gas spill.

"We'd like to apologize for any hindrance created while we do our key work."

One occupant, who did not wish to be named, said: "Tremendous measures of getting away gas the previous evening could have brought on a cataclysmic blast had it touched off.

Penge Lane stays shut at the intersection with Queen Adelaide Road and gas engineers stay at the scene.
